I love dried lavender. There is just something so simply beautiful about it. A single piece, a bunch in a pitcher, everything about it I love. I have been growing and harvesting my own Lavender for about 6 years now and it’s one of my favorite things to do in the garden each year. But with harvesting and drying it I need to actually use or display it.
This simple DIY art piece I thought of was so beautiful in my head, I didn’t know if it would look great when I actually completed it but, it did. It looked exactly how I envisioned and this is how I did it.

Dried Lavender Art Supplies
- Dried Lavender (buy or dry your own)
- Matte Mode Podge
- Paint of your choice
- 1×2 wood trim and 1/4″ plywood/luan board (if making your own frame) cut to any size you want your piece.
- These frame blanks would work really well too.
If you are making your own frame, I first painted the luan board the color I wanted using left over paint. I used a very light gray but any color would look great. Even black. Cut the trim pieces to size and glue/brad nail the frame together.

For the lavender find single pieces you want to use at all varying heights. I dipped the about an inch of the stem right into the lodge lodge, wiped off excess and placed it where I wanted. about 1/4″ from the bottom to leave from for the frame. Or you can put the frame on first and just place it.
Grab a small paint brush if to help wipe off too much Modge podge on the stems when placing. Let it dry and it’s done. It is just so simple and makes such a great impact.
