How to Remove a Chair Rail

When we moved in EVERY room had a chair rail so I like to think of myself as an expert on how to remove it efficiently.

With an utility knife, cut any caulk as close to the wall as you can.

Use a metal scraper and flat head screwdriver pull away chair rail. Use metal scraper as a back board so there will be no denting of the wall.

Scrape off  remaining  caulk.

Use a wall compound and lightly skim coat sanding between coats. Once level, prime and paint!
