The Fun in Spray Painting Random Things

Do you have that random object or tchotchke laying around that you love but it just needs some updating? Have you thought about spray painting it?

I have objects stashed away that I don’t even remember how or why I got them, others I bought them for 50 cents at a garage sale for some unknown reason other than my brain thinking I needed it for something.

Last week I was looking around for something to do, and I looked in a box in the closet and found a turtle that I bought on the cheap cheap at the Dutchess County SPCA yard sale. It was a cute turtle but it was dull and uninteresting. So I figured I could spruce it up with some bright spray paint.

After scouring and gathering some more odd objects I started my project.

Here are the items…

The first thing I did was prime the items with a spray painting primer. I almost didn’t prime them because I am a “lets get it done as quickly as possible” type of girl, but I figured it would only save me steps in the long run.

With the turtle and bird I decided to go with a bright orange, mostly because I had it on hand.

It was a quick two coats and a couple of hours drying time and now I have some very cute new accessories that I can’t wait to incorporate into one of my stagings.

What do you think?

I'm all for painting knick knacks to make them new again. Better than going out and getting something new.
