2015 Country Living Fair in Rhinebeck, NY

The Country Living Fair was this weekend and I had the opportunity to go on Saturday. I am blessed to only live 30 minutes from the Dutchess County Fairgrounds in Rhinebeck where it is held and yes…this was my first time going. I know, I know..but I got there this year!

The Fair is held 4 times a year in Rhinebeck, NY; Columbus, OH; Atlanta, GA and for the first time this year – Nashville, TN.

They market it as walking through the pages of Country Living Magazine and they are absolutely right! The Fair was beautiful! Right down to the perfectly placed wicker benches, sitting right next to buckets of lavender. Perfect.

And speaking of lavender, it was EVERYWHERE! Which is funny because I just became a little obsessed with lavender in April. The hubby and I were biking down Mt Haleakala in Maui and we zoomed past a lavender farm. It was beautiful and the smell was amazing. So of course when I got home I had to buy a lavender plant and next year it will be all over my yard.

The biggest trends at the fair, in my opinion were of course the lavender, succulents, and marquee letters. Those are the three things that stood out to me.

My great finds that I bought…I’m a little embarrassed to say but, nada. Well, unless you count the Philly cheese steak and ice-cream cone.

Here’s my dilemma, I’m ~~cheap~~ thrifty and being a DIY’er I tend to look at most things and think, I can make that. It’s a downfall because usually I won’t make it but, I have a hard time buying items I can make. Unless I absolutely love it or I can’t make it for what it’s selling for. Tell me I’m not the only one?

The prices at The Fair are definitely not your flea market finds but that didn’t seem to stop most people from buying.
