Wooden Nursery Names

I love natural elements, anyone will tell you that I’m obsessed with rocks and anything nature. So for our little Henry’s nursery I wanted to add some of these elements and here is what I came up with.

I am in absolute love with these. They are my favorite things in the nursery! So here’s how I did it:

While outside I looked at our wood pile and found perfectly round log and asked my dad to cut me around 1 inch slices with the chains saw. So he did as much as he could from that log and got around 9 slices.

After slicing the wood I left it out for probably around a month before actually doing the project. I wanted to make sure most of the moisture was out and it could start to crack on it’s own.

At first I didn’t know if I wanted to stain, paint, poly or leave it natural

I tested one of the slices with a dark stain, and with Miss Mustard Seed Milk Paint in Yellow. But I didn’t like the way they turned out. I wanted the more natural look so I opted to just leave them plain.

I was thinking at first I would stencil the letters on the wood, but while I was at Hobby Lobby I found these fun letters and bought them so it would them give a cool 3 dimensional look. I think the letters were around .99 each, plus I had a coupon so I thought it was a great deal.

I ended up staining just the letters so they would stand out against the natural wood.

I used Liquid Nails to adhere the letters to each piece and then just used some twine and a staple gun and secured a loop for hanging on the back.

Once again, I’m going to say I LOVE the final look!
